You can create as many POP3 accounts as you need in this section. ChoiceMail
will connect to all of them to fetch mail. ChoiceMail adds an extra header
to incoming mail so that, if you wish, you can detect from which account
a message was retrieved.
- POP3 source email address
Specify the complete email address associated
with this account. For example, if you have an email address john@smith.com
then you would enter that address here. This address is used as the Reply
address when ChoiceMail sends automated messages out to senders.
- POP3 source username
ChoiceMail needs to know the username used to
log into the POP3 server. This information is normally provided to you
by
your ISP.
- POP3 source password
ChoiceMail needs to know the password used to
validate your account on the POP3 server. This information is normally
provided
to you by your ISP.
Note: if you are using MSN, your password must be specified using UPPERCASE
characters.
- POP3 source host
This is the name of the POP3 server and
should be provided by your ISP. You will often see names such as mail.someisp.com
or pop3.someisp.com.
- Use Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
If your ISP requires you to use SPA, check this
box. MSN requires SPA.
- This server requires a secure connection
(SSL)
Check this box only if your ISP requires the use
of SSL encryption.
- Specify the POP3 connection port
Most POP servers require the default port 110 but
some ISPs may change their requirement. If your ISP requires a different
port for your POP server, you can change it here. Note that if you have
any webmail accounts setup, then the port will in fact be different as
ChoiceMail will be communicating with the webmail gateway through a different
port on your machine.
- Source enabled
You can control whether ChoiceMail should check
each account for new mail. You may sometimes wish to switch off a particular
account and unchecking this box is more convenient than deleting the
entire account.
- Advanced...
This button is used to access a special
dialog that allows you to quickly see what messages are available
on your ISP's server. You then have the option to explicitly delete individual
emails.
This dialog is helpful if ChoiceMail is having a problem downloading
a particular message (typically because a spammer has deliberately corrupted
the message in
an attempt to break ChoiceMail).
To use this feature, select one of your accounts and then press the "Advanced..."
button.
