Some users have reported a problem where
new unread messages received by Eudora from ChoiceMail are marked
as already read. We have not been able to reproduce this problem internally.
We have also received some reports that this problem does not occur
as of version 1.3 of ChoiceMail. Therefore, if you are having this
problem, the first thing you should do is update to the latest ChoiceMail
release.
If updating to the latest release does not fix this problem, try the
workaround described below.
First, make sure that you do not have Eudora configured so that emails
in the preview window are automatically marked as read after a few
seconds. Click on Tools | Options in Eudora and check your Preview
Pane settings in the Viewing Options category (see
picture).
If this does not solve the problem, you can add a filter into Eudora
that will simply change the status of all new messages to unread.
Thus, even though Eudora is misinterpreting incoming email, the filter
will reset the status anyway.
The following screenshots are taken from Eudora 5.1 but previous versions
of Eudora are probably similar. |

Step 1) Open the Filters window in Eudora and then press the New button
to start creating a new filter |
|

Step 2) Click the New button to begin the creation of a new filter |
| |

Step 3) Adjust the filter setting to match those shown above. It's
important all the actions after the first (Make Status) action are
set to None. |
| |
| Step 4) If you already have other filters defined, drag
the new filter so that it is at the top of your filter list. You can
do this by clicking on the filter name on the left and dragging above
any other filters. That will guarantee that this filter is always
applied. |

Step 5) Close the window, saving your settings.
All new emails should now be marked as unread when they first arrive. |
